OK, you heard it all enough. Pirates hijacked this, pirates kept hijacking that, even firing at NAVY ships, and other unarmed ships. Look, it is time to realize that the so called “Aid supplies” shipments is more like a business today than a simply aid to help poor people. I do not speak for the pirates, but I speak to you from experience living in that conditions. It is all business, the same way UPS and others work, they rely on people to starve and struggle so they can be hired to deliver aid and supplies. Books, articles were already written about ending food aid to Africa and the poor. The bottom line is, when you deliver food all the time than you’re expected to deliver food all the time. It doesn’t solve poverty or feed any starving child for the long term. It is simply a temporary relief.

So, why can’t the people that ship the food also have other ideas, ideas such as HELP the countries, help them build institutions, pressure their governments to act right, and work with them to prevent the crises to start with. Or, will this make shipping fleet ships go out of business?

It is time, it is time to end FOOD AID TO AFRICA, and if you really care about helping them, help them help themselves, by doing exactly just that. Not with food, that will also be needed tomorrow from you.

One of my ears is like that,I haven’t used hearing aid yet as my other ear has normal hearing.I like to become a nurse anesthetic ;that’s why I need to hear well from both ears.I live in the United States.Last time I visited an audiologist,she couldn’t suggest me any hearing aid for 90 percent hearing loss,yet I beleive it should be some that’s why I am researching on it personaly.Any information is greatly appreciated.Thanks,

you can put a hearing aid on I am sure if you really feel you need it. However when there is such a big difference between the ears a lot of times the ear with the hearing loss doesn’t sound clear even with the hearing aid. The hearing loss is so severe everything is distorted. the hearing aid sends in a clear sound and the ear garbles it all up and the sound actually impairs you speech understanding. If having a hearing aid would help you to hear environmental stuff for your job it may be helpful to have some amplification on that ear. But a lot of times speech understanding is actually worse with a hearing aid on an ear with that much hearing loss.

My concerns with getting it over the internet is will it be small enough to fit in the ear and will it really need adjustments after its here. I have looked at several places and I only need one. The audiologist wants me to purchase one that is 950 dollars and insurance doesn’t cover this so that’s why I am looking into this option. for those of you who have some experience in this area, tell me what worked for you.

Hello Boomer s,

The best thing for you to do is to go to an actual “hearing aid” store, they will be able to give you the best deal, and possibility a warranty. When you go to an actual hearing aid store, they would be able to fit your child, and don’t be surprise if it is less than 0.00. Ask or call around (not the internet), so that you will have more than one option/ or opinion….good luck!

My husbands insurance did not pay like they said. Now we owe another 1500.00. I heard Serenity Lane has a scholarship program but they only sent us finance papers for payments when I requested an application for aide. I am thinking its a word of mouth rumor with no actual facts.
Does anybody know of such aide actually being granted?
We trusted SL when they told us what our insurance would cover, but then the insurance said that “SL Outpatient Program” falls under “Inpatient” according to their underwriting. So now there is a huge deductible to be paid by us. I read the entire insurance policy handbook and no where is anything stated about “Outpatient Group” falling under “Inpatient” but that’s what they’re saying and SL admits it shouldn’t go this way however, they want money. Husband has been on work restrictions since 6wk after starting rehab because of disability issue and only gets 4hr of work daily. With MAJOR medical bills every month we submitted application to SL Billing Office but it was denied with statement saying we didn’t offer a payment plan! Well, dickens. I called and ask for scholarship/grant application not payment plan paperwork. We aren’t going to be able to squeeze for much longer. We are quickly getting behind. Any info on appealing insurance or getting SL to discount bill would help me. I am out of options and research ideas.

That seems like a lot for a single hearing aid. 00 for two high end digital hearing aids is in the typical ballpark. Beltone as a company has been around a long time, so that means they are stable but have also had a number of complaints about them, and it appears that opinions about them vary quite widely depending on the dealer. One of the differences between Beltone and some other hearing aids is that Beltone has a nationwide network of “dealers”. Most audiologists do not restrict themselves to a single brand and buy hearing aids straight from the manufacturer and resell them. Some of these more common brands would include Phonak, Oticon, GN/Resound, and Siemans. I have years of experience as a purchaser of the first two types of hearing aids both for myself and my daughter and have zero complaints, and have heard only good things about the level of quality for the other two brands as well.

The best hearing aid, however, is not a particular brand, but is ALWAYS is one that fits the patient’s type of hearing loss. 80 % is not a good measurement of hearing loss, hearing loss is expressed in a number of decibels (usually zero to 100) across specific frequencies, with the “speech” frequencies between 500 and 4000 Hz being the most important. Different hearing aids are better for different levels of hearing loss. You also need to keep in mind that the quality of the person programming and dispensing the hearing aid is as important as the quality of the hearing aid. No point in paying for all of those bells and whistles if the person programming it a) doesn’t know how to maximize their use or b) can’t explain it to your mother or ask the right questions to optimize her fitting

My daughter has BTE hearing aids and this is the first year shes really outside during the winter with going to pre-k and all. If she wears a hat the hearing aids give wicked bad feedback. I want her to keep her head warm with a hat but i also dont want her to go outside without the HA’s and not be able to hear. How do you deal with this?

Could you find hats that cover the head an only have flaps over the ear and see if those work any better?
