I wear BTE hearing aids and eyeglasses. I think each of them are designed to fit on top of the ear, without any other device on the ear. As it is, my ears get tired from having both devices on them. And if I were to wear on-the-ear headphones, my ears would be even more tired. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you deal with it?

Answer by kasumicat I do not know how to answer this from personal experience, but my cousin wears hearing aids and eyeglasses. She chose a light wire frame when she wears her eyeglasses, but uses contact lenses most of the time. I am not sure if contacts are an option for you, but you may want to consider it. If you can wear hearing aids that are not behind the ear, that may be another option for you as well.

My audiologist recommended these for me but it costs over 00. I was searching online and found a few cheaper places. But in particular I seen a person on ebay selling a used pair. So my question is, is there a possibility that a used pair could work just as good? I have not ordered many things on Ebay before so please tell me what you think about ordering such an expensive item from there...

Answer by Peter G Check ANY sellers feedback when using EBay. I would be very wary of new sellers with little or no feedback. Check the amount of money you are covered by when using PayPal to buy on EBay. It is either 0.00 OR 00.00 dollars in coverage. That is the amount PayPal will refund to you if deal goes bad, such as items never arrive.
FORGET about paying by cash or money order on ANY EBay item. Bad vibes!!! If deal goes bad, your money is GONE!!. Use PayPal, at least you get SOME protection.
These ideas are valid with any EBay item, not just the hearing aids you are interested in.

Question by al mond: How to improve speech intelligibility in hearing aids?
Since World War II, people have known that speech intelligibility can be improved by increasing the consonant amplitude compared to that of the vowel. Why isn't this capability incorporated into hearing aids, turning them into understanding aids?

Answer by Technobuff I'm just left wondering how to filter out the vowels only, in order to boost the consonants!? Or vice versa.
I don't have a hearing aid or work with hearing aids, but I think that customising the response to various frequency bands to suit the individual aid wearer's hearing would be a more suitable way of improving understanding.
Add noise cancelling as well....?
